| This years Christmas concerts at the Prospect Theatre in Farnborough were the last under the musical direction of Len Tyler. Both the afternoon and evening concerts encouraged participation from young and young at heart, with carols to sing along to and percussion to play! There was the old favourites (hats as well as music!) and some new pieces to keep the audience entertained. Rose Tyler and Wendy Brimicombe played an enchanting flute duet, and Shiela Kennedy played the Christmas Song as a saxophone solo. Len TYler donated an award to the band. This award is to recognise a member of the band who has shown an outstanding committment to the band, either playing or behind the scenes. The first person to receive this award was Tony Blenkinsop. Tony plays French Horn for the band, and never misses a rehearsal or concert, despite having limited transport means. He also works hard behind the scenes, not only as the band's ticket officer, but also in transposing and rewriting various instrumental parts for band members. All this is done in his own time using his own resources. So Congratulations Tony on being the first recipient of the Len Tyler award....well deserved!
