Fast becoming an annual event, the band's trip to Eastbourne was much enjoyed by all. Travelling by coach to the seaside town the band were in good spirits. On arrival the band set up their equipment on the famous bandstand leaving enough time for people to spend a couple of hours walking along the prom, going round the shops, or a swim!. The band's performance was from 3 to 4.30 and included many memorable items including Padstow Lifeboat by Malcolm Arnold.
This performance included the rare Kelp horn (a basic horn made from seaweed and only found in Hermannus - S Africa) played by music director, Len Tyler (see picture). Other items included March Militaire (Gounod), a selection of Soul music and Clarinet Candy featuring the entire clarinet section. After the performance there was time for another wander along the prom and a meal of fish and chips before the coach trip home.
