Joining the Band

Our aims and objectives

  • To pursue musical excellence
  • To hold rehearsals regularly in order to improve our standard of performance and our repertoire
  • To give performances for the benefit and enjoyment of the band and its audience
  • To encourage children to join our training section and to aspire to the main band
  • To continue our policy of 'open access' and to encourage all members of the local community to join our band or to attend our concerts
  • To continue to actively encourage the attendance of children at our concerts by keeping very low entry prices

Which Band to Join?

Training Section: Aims to encourage youngsters and adults who have just started to play an instrument and those returning to their instruments after a long break. The training section plays a short programme of music at each of our four main concerts. Vacancies all sections all players

Main Band: For more experienced players of all ages. Children are also considered for the main band if they are of a high enough standard. Appointment to this band is subject to vacancies. The band aims to encourage development of all players and to provide challenging and less well-known music as well as the 'standards' Vacancies for Barrie Sax, Bassoon, Tenor Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba and Percussion

Rehearsal Information

The Bands meet every Monday (excepting Bank Holidays). Training Section from 7.00 - 7.50 pm and the Main Band from 8.00 - 10.00 pm.

Fees

Fees for the training section are paid weekly and cost £2.00 per session. The main band fees are £26 paid quarterly. There is a discount if you play in both bands.

Location

The Band meets at Ash Manor School, Aldershot.( Directions )
