Thirty band members with family and friends travelled to Sulechow in Poland to support the Town's annual Children in Need weekend. Sulechow is twinned with Rushmoor Borough and the trip was made possible through a grant from the Borough Council and their own fund-raising events.
On the first evening, the band played at the Sulechow Town Hall for the Mayor and local dignatories. On the Saturday, they were treated to a day trip to the mountains. On Sunday, the band travelled to the local town of Zielona Gora. Here a small section of the band were taken to the television studios for a live broadcast on Polish TV. 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' must have been played through at least 20 times whilst waiting for the cameras to point in their direction! This was followed by a concert in the Town Square. The band's rendition of Queen, as always, was very well received!
The evening venue was again outdoors, on a stage in the centre of Sulechow. The band were the "star" turn" in this Children in Need concert. The event culminated in a Firework Finale which put the Band in the right mood for the Boar Roast that followed! The following day we said goodbye to our wonderful hosts and, after a bit of souvenir shopping, returned by coach and plane back to England
